The Berg-Hughes Center for Petroleum and Sedimentary Systems is a comprehensive program that integrates geosciences, engineering and related disciplines, including the Department of Geology and Geophysics and the Crisman Institute for Petroleum Research in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering.

Strategic Objectives

  • Conduct interdisciplinary, collaborative research and education in petroleum studies.
  • Attract external funding and other resources to support an integrated team of scientists, engineers, students and others collaborating on transformative research projects in petroleum studies.
  • Recruit, develop and graduate geosciences and engineering students equipped to lead in solving the most challenging petroleum-related problems.
